Sex Therapy in Seattle - Modern Therapy Seattle

Sex Therapy

Here at Modern Therapy Seattle, we believe that sexuality is a core piece of the human experience.

Sex therapy is a type of psychotherapy used to address concerns about sexual function, sexual feelings, and intimacy. Sex therapy can occur as individual therapy or joint therapy with your partner/s.

Sex therapy is usually provided by psychologists, social workers, physicians or licensed therapists who have specialized training in issues related to sex and relationships. Certified sex therapists have graduate degrees and can demonstrate their competence in sex therapy by becoming credentialed by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).

As sex therapists and educators, we hope to create a shame-free, nonjudgmental space to explore what holistic and healthy sexuality can look like for you and your partner/s. Oftentimes, when sexuality concerns arise -both individually and relationally- the experience can be isolating, frustrating, or frightening. Humans are constantly inundated with messages about how desire, arousal, and sexuality “should be” and those that fall outside of the margins or those that are experiencing challenges, are often labeled as “deviant” or “broken.” We do not believe these messages to be true and strive to carve out space for your authentic sexual self.

We are here to help work through a variety of different sexual concerns to help you move into a more connected and embodied experiencing of your sexuality.

We work with a variety of different sexual concerns. Including but not limited to:

  • Concerns or curiosities about sexual desire or arousal
